The Society has been running monthly online competitions since August 2020 as an alternative means of maintaining contact with members during the Covid restrictions. Sadly the enthusiasm for the competitions has waned over recent months and it has been difficult thinking of new “themes”. Consequently the decision has been made that it is now time to end the competitions. The organisers would like to thank all the members and non-members who participated with their photos and submitting votes for their favourites. Over 75 competitions have been run with over 1,500 entries from both members and visitors. Prizes were awarded for First, Second and Third places. All members and non-members were invited to join in.
The final event was for two competitions. For competition One members could back up their claims about how damaging the heatwave has been by submitting a photo of a garden “disaster”; for those of us who hadn’t already removed all the dead/distressed plants. Competition Two was for those few plants that have managed to survive and, even prosper, so this competition was to show a plant that had overcome the problems of the heat and drought.
